Methazolamide, melatonin, and Trolox prevent Aβ-mediated ROS generation in primary cortical neurons. Primary neurons were treated with various concentrations of Aβ42 (0–1 μM) in the presence or absence of MTZ (300 μM), MEL (100 μM), and Trolox (300 μM), subsequently stained with CellROX, and nuclei counterstained with Hoechst, as in Fig. 4. Immunofluorescence images illustrate ROS formation highlighted by the free radical sensing probe CellROX (red signal) and nuclei staining with DAPI (blue fluorescence); bar, 25 μm.
